This project explores computational design inspired by natural patterns to optimize material use and structural integrity. Using topological optimization workflows, the design minimizes material weight while maintaining strength.
Agents are simulated within the chair’s volume to create internal structures, with thicker members forming in high-stress areas. Cohesion forces guide agents toward stress zones, generating an adaptive lattice that balances efficiency and function.
By studying stress distribution and force behavior, the chair achieves a lightweight and highly detailed form. While complex, advances in production methods such as additive manufacturing make such intricate designs increasingly feasible.
